An Elegant Company at Supper, oil on oak panel,circle of Pieter Jakobsz Codde, Dutch dated 1630. The fashion for such domestic scenes can be partly explained by the fact that the Netherlands was a very interior culture with wealth being dislpayed inside rather than through large estates such as the English.

Still Life of Pumpkin, Bottle & Jar by Jean Sutherland, oil on canvas, Australian, c1940. There is a feel of the seventeenth century Dutch about this beautiful work.

"Taking Coffee and Chocolate" by Hendrik de Valk, oil on canvas, Dutch c1720.. The Dutch won the race to introduce coffee to their colonies and became the main supplier to Europe. Interestingly the English word "coffee" entered the lexicon in 1598 via the Dutch word koffie.

Rest on the Flight to Egypt, oil on oak panel from the circle of David Teniers the Elder, European c1630. The subject was a popular one of the time and represents the Virgin & Joseph with Jesus fleeing Herod's massacre. Superbly painted with wonderful colours and composition with the oak panel intact.

"The Baptism of Christ" , oil on canvas from the circle of Francesco Solimena, Italian c1710. Superb biblical subject of great Baroque composition and style.

Eurydice and the Snake, oil on oak panel from the circle of Pieter Andreas Rysbrack, European c1730. Eurydice was the wife of Orpheus and daughter of Apollo. On being bitten by a snake Orpheus has to follow her to the underworld and try to persuade Persephone to allow him to take her back. Beautiful oak frame and the panel is intact.

Orpheus and the Maenads, oil on oak panel from the circle of Pieter Andreas Rysbrack, European c1730. Orpheus was torn to pieces by Thracian Maenads for not honoring his previous patron Dionysus. Despite the somewhat gory subject matter a sensational work in a beautiful oak frame. The panel is inact.
