Portrait of an Officer, oil on canvas by Ambrosini Jerome, English c1870. "Ambrosini Jerome" was the pseudonym of James Parker Jerome, making him sound like a character from a Thackeray novel. He enjoyed Royal patronage and this is wonderful example of its era and genre. The work is framed in its original superb gilt frame.

A portrait of Charles Mather by Charles d'Agar, oil on board, English c1700. A wonderful looking character superbly painted with great detail to the costume and wig. The inscription on the back reads: "Charles Mather born 1667 married Mary Chechly died 1738."

"Horse and Groom" oil on oak panel by H.S.Cottrell, English, c1820. Though English, this painting has a Biedermeier feel about it.

Young Arab Warrior, oil on canvas by Frederick Goodall, English c1870. A striking work by this very talented artist who's young death ended a promising career. The subject matter reflects the British fashion for all things Near Eastern in the late nineteenth century.
