A large and superb Samson of Paris Imari style covered vase c1870. European manufacturers were keep to get on board the desire for Oriental ceramics which by the mid - late 19th cent centered around vases, urns, chargers and floor vases from both Japan and China. This would have been made to undercut the exotic and expensive import and it copies the Japanese style with a hint of China and European flowers thrown in, topped off with a fake Chinese reign mark to the base. The Samson factory produced pieces of very good quality throughout the nineteeth century which are now as desirable to collectors as the Oriental pieces they were copying.

A beautiful and spare German KPM Chinoiserie lidded vase c1840. An unusual mariney turquoise ground finely painted with flowers and birds and a gilt finial. In perfect condition.

A French lacquered bronze Chinoiserie mounted vase c1860. the porcelain is by Samson of Paris and is in the Chinese manner. The mounts are fine quality rococo in style. At this period in France there was fashion for Louis XVth style furniture and objects and this vase is typical of this.

A superb Carlton Ware Temple vase on stand in the "Mikado & Temple" pattern c1928. A beautiful and rare example of Carlton's Art Deco luxe porcelain.

An unusual and early Carlton Ware coverd vase decorated in "Worcester birds" pattern c1900. A striking chinoiserie piece the ground is a strong terracotta colour with black borders and beautiful gilt filligree. Early underglaze blue W & R mark.

A Mason's ironstone sauce tureen c1820 in the imari style. In perfect condition with imprinted mark to saucer base. Mason's was one of the most successful British manufactures at adapting Oriental porcelain designs for the local market.

A wonderful carlton ware Blue Royale handled vase decorated in "Pagoda" pattern with fine gilt detailing c1940.

A Mason's Ironstone bowl c1815. Impressed mark, printed mark, in perfect condition. At this early stage most British manufacturers were copying the original Chinese decoration of imported wares.

"Dromedary" blue & white ashet by John & Richard Riley c1820. Again this piece shows the transition from copied Chinese designs to local ones. The border is very European whilst the foliage is Chinese and the temple is drawn from late 18th early 19th cent illustrations.

A superb Spode foot bath c 1820. One handle has been restored. These objects are incredibly hard to find in good condition and this piece has no rubbing to the gilding or painting.
