A Jasper Ware cheese round
A Jasper Ware cheese round, unmarked but most probably by Dudson, c1870. The caramel background features a design of a hunting scene edged by a wreath of oak leaves and acorns surmounted by a knotted rope knob. In perfect condition.
Dudsons and Adams were famously sued by Wedgwood in the 1880's for essentially knocking off their designs. Though very common now amongst luxury brands this must be one of the earliest examples of such intellectual copyrite protection.
Height: 23 cm
