Abusson tapestry
A sensational Abusson tapestry c1680. This lage and impressive tapestry features a scene of a castle framed by two peacocks. There is fading to the original brighter pigments and various small repairs but the overall condition is superb and will make a spectacular backdrop in a contempory home. Prior to the industrial revolution blue was the only pigment that cotton would naturally uptake. All other pigments had to go through highly Baroque processes to be uptaken and even then the fasteness was not consistent, hence the blues are still so fresh on this piece.
