Arthur Burrington watercolour
“On the Way to the Spring, Barmouth Wales”, watercolour dated 1888, by Arthur Burrington R.I, R.O.I. Arthur Alfred Burrington was a painter of landscapes, genre and flowers. He was born in 1856 at Bridgewater, Somerset. He studied at the South Kensington Schools, the Slade, in Rome under Cipriani in 1878, and in Paris under Lefebre, Cormon, Boulanger and Bonnat in 1882. He exhibited from 1883 at the Paris Salon and from1880 at the Royal Academy, the Royal Society of British Artists, Suffolk Street, the New Gallery, the Royal Institute of Painters in Watercolours and elsewhere. He was elected a Member of the Royal Institute of Oil Painters in 1894 and a Member of the Royal Institute of Painters in Watercolours in 1896.
His work is represented in the collection of the Victoria Art Gallery, Bath.
