"Diana" bronze by Le Faguays

“Diana” Art Deco period bronze c1925 by Pierre Le Faguays (height 680) Pierre Le Faguays was a prolific and versatile avant-garde French sculptor whose works greatly influenced the styles of the 1920’s and early 30’s; his dancing girls influenced by the statues of Tanagra. He was born in Nantes in 1892. He studied under Vibert and first exhibited at the Salon des Artistes Français in 1922 and was awarded an Honorable Mention in the Applied Arts section in 1926 and a further Honourable Mention in the sculpture section in 1927. He was elected a full Member of the Société and exhibited with them at the 1925 Paris Exposition des Arts Décoratifs et Industriels. He executed a number of monuments and public statuary, as well as numerous small decorative sculptures in bronze, bronze & ivory, terracotta and ceramics. Most of his decorative figures were edited by Arthur Goldscheider, but he also had a number edited by Edmond Etling. He exhibited two bronzes at the 1937 Paris International Exhibition.
