The "Penglai Pavilion" is actually located on the hill of Danyashan close to the sea in the north of Penglai city in Yunnan Province of China. Built in 1061 during the reign by Emperor Jiayou of Bei Song dynasty, it is one of the four most famous pavilions in China.

 

 

Elyse Ashe Lord was born around 1900, dying in 1971. She was a painter, engraver and designer. She is well known for her watercolours on silk and etchings in a delicate, Orientalist manner. She exhibited widely, between 1915 and 1939 at the Royal Academy, the Royal Scottish Academy, the Royal Cambrian Academy, the Royal Institute of Painters in Watercolours, the Glasgow Institute for the Fine Arts and the Lefevre Gallery, amongst others.
