Regency Ironstone Chinoiserie Vase
An Ironstone china vase in the manner of Mason's with a faux Chinese reign mark c1830. In perfect condition.
Many early nineteenth century manufacturers used fake Chinese marks on their wares as Chinese porcelain was still highly desirable and expensive, beyond the scope of the middle class. By the mid nineteenth century however British ceramics had come into their own and fashion had changed to brighter colours eliminating the need to copy Chinese design.
