Jean Parker Sutherland was born in Melbourne in 1902, dying there in 1978. She studied at the National Gallery of Victoria School between 1918 & 1923, the Royal Academy School, London between 1925 and 1927. Her work had a luminosity and strength, combining impressionistic colour and academic drawing.

Her work is represented in the collection of the National Gallery of Victoria.
