"The Hunting Party" oil on panel attributed to Philippe Budelot c1800.
Philippe Budelot
was born in Dijon; he was active as an artist at the end of the 18th
and the beginning of the 19th century; the nephew of Jean-Baptiste
Budelot, he was a pupil of Bruandet and was later the director of the St
Petersburg porcelain factory under Alexander I. His first Salon picture was a
landscape exhibited in Paris in 1793, after which he worked essentially as a
landscape painter.
His work is represented in the Galleries Abbeville, Arras, Châlons-en-Champagne
and Épinal.
