The Hunting Party attb Philippe Budelot
"The Hunting Party" oil on panel attributed to Philippe Budelot c1800. Philippe Budelot was born in Dijon and was active at the end of the 18th and the beginning of the 19th centuries. He was the nephew of Jean-Baptiste Budelot and a pupil of Bruandet. He was made director of the Imperial St Petersburg porcelain factory under Alexander I. His first salon picture was a landscape exhibited in Paris in 1793, after which he worked essentially as a landscape painter.
His work is represented in the Galleriesof Abbeville, Arras, Châlons-en-Champagne and Épinal.
