George Armfield painting

A very charming oil on board - ‘Terriers Ratting’ - by George Armfield, signed and c1870. Armfield was born in 1810 and worked between 1840 and 1875 and was a London based painter of dogs, landscapes, game birds and wild animals. He exhibited at the Royal Academy, the British Institute and the Royal Society. His work is represented in many collections throughout Britain. The work has been professionally cleaned, retains a charming gilt frame and measures 21cm x 31cm unframed.
