“The Young Country Girl” Oil on canvas c1870 by Charles Sillem Lidderdale R.B.A. Charles Sillem Lidderdale (1831-1895) was a London based genre painter. He exhibited at the Royal Society of British Artists, the British Institute and the Royal Academy amongst others. His work is often small scale and the subject frequently pretty farm girls.His work is illustrated in The Dictionary of Victorian Painters (p.298), and in Popular 19th Century Painting - A Dictionary of European Genre Painting (p. 82)His work is represented in the collection of the City of London Art Gallery. The work has been professionally cleaned and unframed measures: 30cm x 22.5cm.
