The nut and tree of the coco de mer is a rare species of palm tree native to the Seychelles archipelago in the Indian Ocean.It has the biggest seed in a plant and was widely collected for its rarity and exotic form! The plant is now heavily protected and trade in the nuts is closely regulated. This is a vintage example from a collection at least 50 years old.
