Elyse Lord etching

‘Alice in Wonderland’ coloured drypoint etching c1930 by Elyse Lord. Lord was an interesting if mysterious artist born around 1885 but also often stated as 1900! Her birth name was Elise Müller which was anglicised during WWI. She was a painter and printmaker famed for her Orientalist style and multi-layered technique. She exhibited widely between 1915 and 1939 and it’s unclear whether she produced any work after WWII. She died in 1971 and her work remains a high point of Art Deco creative imagination.
