A fabulous pair of French Art Deco period gilt bronze and marble Egyptianesque bookends c1925. These objects were inspired by the second wave of ‘Egypt Mania’ triggered by the discovery of Tutankhamun‘s tomb in 1922, the first wave of ‘Egypt Mania’ was triggered by Napoleon’s campaigns in Egypt from 1798 and we have a couple pieces of fabulous French furniture from this period on the website.
