A fabulous oil on canvas of roses c1900 by Eugène Henri Cauchois. Cauchois was born in Rouen in 1850, dying in Paris in 1911. He was a pupil of Cabanel and Duboc. He exhibited at the Paris Salon from 1874 and was a member of the Societé des Artistes Français from 1890 onwards; he was awarded bronze medals at the Salon des Artistes Français in 1898 and 1900 and a silver medal in 1904. His style is characterised by vigorously applied and densely coloured brushstrokes. His work is represented in the Musems of Rouen and Louviers. The work has been professionally cleaned. Framed dimensions: 44.4cm wide x 59cm tall.
